Who we are
Founded and run by a team of three sisters
Pitkin Writing & Editing was founded in 2018 by sisters who share a love of authentic storytelling. Our father, who was a writer by trade, set an example for us. He taught us that in order to write something anyone else will find worthwhile, you have to care about it and understand it first. To this day, that's how we approach every project. In a world of AI-written blogs and generic, jargon-filled service pages, we want our clients to actually connect with their audiences through the words we write.
Each of our writers and editors has their own specialties and areas of interest. We pair the best-suited and most-interested writer to each job so every project becomes a labor of love. At least two in-house editors work on every web page, blog, newsletter, or product description before it's sent to the client for review. The goal is to give you polished, in-depth, and results-driven content that truly captures your identity and purpose.
We love learning about our clients and their customers. Contact us to tell us your story and find out how we can help you tell it even better.
Emily Scott
Founder, Writer, & Editor
Emily co-founded Pitkin Writing & Editing with her sisters after earning her MA in Professional Writing. She writes web and blog content for major accounts and edits with a no-nonsense, meticulous attitude. If an article contains fluff or confusing verbiage, she'll always sniff it out and axe it. Emily won't hesitate to suggest a complete restructure or rewrite if that's what serves the client. "Good enough" is never good enough.
Because of her background in economics, Emily's bread and butter is finance and business writing. She loves distilling complex or stress-inducing ideas down into digestible, helpful content for readers who may or may not have a finance background. Other areas of interest include education, logistics, law, construction, home improvement, interior design, and AI.
Maddie Wiley
Founder, Editor, & Administrative Director
Maddie edits with a machete, not a scalpel. If it doesn't directly serve the purpose, it doesn't belong on the page. She keeps content clean, concise, and on-message. This is the same approach she takes when delegating tasks and managing the administrative side of the business. She's incredibly organized and tackles every challenge head-on. If a client or writer brings a concern to her attention, she doesn't rest until a solution is found and implemented. Basically, with Maddie at the helm, things get done quickly and things get done right.
With two undergraduate degrees (Accounting and Business) and an MA in Professional Writing, Maddie handles every account with a strategic mind and a results-driven approach. Her dedication to our clients and their customers mirrors her dedication to PW&E. Maddie isn't happy until the client is.
Eleanor Pitkin
Founder, Writer, & Editor
Eleanor pours her whole heart into every project she takes on. She's a versatile writer and editor whose work is based on a thorough understanding of what the reader needs and wants. She co-founded Pitkin Writing & Editing with Emily and Maddie because she cares about filling knowledge gaps and providing accurate, transparent, and helpful information. She takes the time to truly understand the target audience before putting pen to paper. In an online world of misinformation and false promises, Eleanor is an advocate for readers and consumers, and she edits every project according to that principle.
With a background in psychology, Eleanor has a special interest in healthcare and mental health services. She also has extensive experience writing and editing in the areas of SaaS, technology, dentistry, beauty and wellness, business management, and event production.
